Background

Craignish Community Council is a statutory body established under the provisions of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1981 and the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1994.

Meetings

Craignish Community Council meets at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of alternate months in Craignish Village Hall. All meetings are open to the public and the Agenda is displayed on local notice-boards, on this website, and circulated to a wide email list 2 weeks prior to the meeting. Following the meeting, the minutes are similarly distributed.

Area

Craignish Community Council covers the Polling District AL54 within the Argyll and Bute Local Government Register of Electors currently in force.

Purpose

The purpose of the Community Council is to ascertain, co-ordinate and express to Argyll and Bute Council and to other public authorities, the views of the community which it represents in relation to matters for which those authorities are responsible, and to take such action, in the interests of the community, as appears to be expedient and practicable.
